Pure water in nature does not exist.
All waters that we normally use contain large quantities of melted salts among which bicarbonates, sulfates, calcium chlorides and magnesium, that, following to heat variations, agglomerate and lead to calcareous deposits.
These calcareous deposits damage heating systems, thereby increasing our energy and gas consumptions up to 15% more every mm of thickness.
Furthermore, water rich in limescale ruins faucets, home appliances, linen; in addition to all this, we use over 50% more detergents, thereby contributing to pouring huge quantities of phosphorous in the environment.
The use of a water softener helps to reduce all this.
The water softener is made up of:
- a tank containing resins commuting ions. These resins turn calcium ions into sodium ions and reduce deposits considerably;
- a vat for the salt: here the salt solution occurs to regenerate resins (models with cabin have smaller dimensions);
- a regulator valve that can be volumetric or timed. The volumetric valve is self-adjusting and can decide autonomously when it is time to perform resin regeneration depending on water consumption.
The timed version allows the programming at regular time spans and the selection of the days of the week to perform the regeneration.
All water softeners dedicated to the home treatment of drinkable waters feature a device that disinfects resins according to norm DM 443/1990.
The water softener is not recommended for the water supply used for garden irrigation.
Instead, for technical uses, the water softener is very recommended because it can be set at zero degree of hardness where there is the need of water free of limescale (ex. steam ovens). For domestic use, the water softener has to be set at 15 degrees of hardness.
In case the water softener is used for water for food preparation or for drinking, we recommend to install a system of reverse osmosis under the sink to remove sodium salts produced by the water softening, in order to convey water a more pleasant taste and proper chemical and physical properties.
The soft sap water softener
We also have a water softener of last generation, the "Soft Sap", which works using the DRL technology - Double resin layer - combined with special food resins that work upstream. This allows the reduction of the dimensions of the water softener (a model of 1200 lt/h suitable for a family of 4 persons has the dimensions of a model with cabin of 500 lt). Above all, it allows a reduction up to 80% of salt and water consumption, which are necessary for the regeneration of resins.
A microprocessor inside the valve starts the regeneration of resins in volumetric way. In case of energy drop, a “chip” stores the data.
All anti-limescale devices have to be installed after the counter on the main water supply pipe. We always recommend to install anti-limescale devices and to arrange a by-pass.
